I am very proud to have been elected Mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden.  I thank my fellow Councillors for allowing me this honour.

My year is going to be a ‘Year of Celebration’ – celebrating the achievements of our town.   A town that has so much to offer.  Firstly a community second to none, a healthy High Street with very few empty shops. A town that is ‘bucking the trends’ opening, not closing venues.

We are proud of our new Nova, the bowling complex, new library, the Scala, a successful Town Branding and the PTC events – entering its fifth year.  Events complementing the longstanding Town Events including the Car Show, the Flower Show, the Walking Festival and the biggest Carnival on the coast.  Coming soon It’s A knockout, Life’s A Beach, Halloween and more!

Well done to the outgoing Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Bob and Helen Paterson for a fantastic year ending with the opening of the New Nova which hosted their Beatles Charity Event with typical food of the 60s, chicken and chips in a basket.  A great night to remember you by.  Thanks Helen and Bob – a hard act to follow.

My charities will be Parkinson’s, Abandoned Animals, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Chernobyl Children.  I shall also be doing something special for ChildLine’s 30th Year and The Artisan’s of Prestatyn Dementia Year.

I came to Prestatyn to see friends and decided to stay.  Born in Yorkshire of an army family, spent most of our time overseas.  Attended an army boarding school, joined the civil service Naafi, served 18 years and retired.  However, still working as a Town and County Councillor in the South West Ward of Prestatyn.  Not ready for retirement yet – lots to do! I am particularly looking forward to working with the Business Forum, shop owners and the People of Prestatyn.
